Disability Inclusion Initiatives System

Question: Discuss about the Disability Inclusion Initiatives System. Answer: Introduction The hospitality industry is a very broad and significant service-based establishment which includes a variety of characteristics and serves the individuals by providing world-class services. This study focuses on one of the sectors of hospitality industries that is hotel industry, it is established in order to provide various services to the tourists, visitors, and individuals who visit them in order to attain various services. The hospitality business is available in almost each and every corner of the nation and is wide and complex in nature. This study concentrates mainly on identifying significant issues and the future prospects of the hotel business with relevance to the Metro Hotel Apartments, which operates its huge business in Gladstone, Australia. The hotel is currently facing a number of issues, such as, increase in operational costs, lack of technological advancement, issues of location, lack of efficient behavior of its employees, terrorism and violence activities in Aus tralia, minimizing employee and customer satisfaction, etc. A few of these issues are discussed here in this report and future prospects of the business has been identified. Literature Review on Hospitality Industry The history of hospitality industry is very old and it has made its mark since decades. As discussed above, the hospitality industry is a vast business, having so many aspects. This business had experienced an enormous growth even in the time of recession. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, (2006-07), the hospitality business has added 17 percent to the allowance and salary employment in between the year 2006-2007. As it is well-known that the hotel business comes under the category of Free-standing hospitality businesses, that is based on providing facilities basically to the tourists. The hotel business is closely connected to the travel and tourism sector as it provides basic amenities, food, lodging, shelter, comfort, recreation, and convenience to its visitors, and in turn generate profits from it(Barrows, Powers and Reynolds, 2012). This business can be described as a commercial establishment meant to please its customers and assist them in creating happy memories . According to Selwyn, T. (2000), the hospitality industry has various characteristics, such as, it is the trade of interchanging of goods and services, where usually two parties, i.e., the host and the guest share the relationships. The existence of this sector is completely based on the exchange of morals and values and the complete framework of a hotel also exist on that.It also helps in creating and maintaining relationships and turn foes into friends(Bowling, 2017). In this literature review, the complete focus is given to the hotel business, which falls under the broad spectrum ofthe hospitality industry, special attention tovarious aspects and issues of a hotel are hence discussed taking into consideration the future prospects of the business. The framework of Metro Hotel Apartments is discussed here, which is situated in the city of Gladstone, Australia. This hotel provides a variety of services to its customers and has a leading restaurant and bar facilities in the hotel, including, a swimming pool, in-house laundry services, gym, etc. This hotel aims to provide the essential food and lodging services to its customers and is additionally awarded with the ultimate excellence in providing dine-in services with a view to give satisfactory ambience and better experience to its customers(Chen, 2010). In one of the studies given by Lashley (Lashley and Morrison (eds.), 2000:10), it is enunciated that in order to understand the provisions and facilities of food, lodgings, and accommodations, one must firstly understand the hospitality services provided in the families.Whereas in accordance with the Fayol(1949), when the hospitality industry is concerned, it is the process where co-ordination, planning, organizational structure, communication, and controlling all play an effective role individually. These all are the basic and significant aspects which need to be looked upon effectively in the hotel business irrespective of its context and scale of business(Dolnicar and Otter, 2003). With respect to the Metro Hotel Apartments, the owner has to live within the hotel premises and knit the ambience as one whole big family as there is a lack of cooperation and collaboration within the staff. On the other hand, the planning of daily work schedule, co-ordination between hotel staff, thei r chain of command, communication and organizational structure, is getting affected due to the improper behavior of its staff. Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher once remarked change is the new constant, which will be discussed here with reference to hotels in the next part of this report to understand the changes in the hotel industry and the issues faced by them. It throws light on issues which the aforementioned hotel is currently experiencing due to the changing global demands. In one or the other way,the issues that the complete hotel industry and at some point its mother the hospitality industry are facing currently(Kalargyrou and Volis, 2014). In recent times, the global community hasexperienced an increase in prejudice towards fellow human beings, there is a drastic increment in racism, dogmatism and insularity. All the above enumerated mindsets harm the hospitality industry and in turn the hotel industry to a very deep extent. The act of violence against non-resident Australians in Australian Continent in the past two decades has impeded the growth of tourism in the country. The owners of hotels, such as, Metro Hotel Apartments have expressed that the tourists who want to enjoy their vacations peacefully, away from the hustle-bustle, try to avoid situations mentioned above; as the hotel business of Metro Hotel Apartments have experienced a lot of issues of violence which has now become a topic of concern for the owner of the hotel. Due to increase in terrorism activities, the airports all around the globe have tightened their security, there is a tremendous increase in frisking and regulations, disrupting passengers/tou rists state of mind even before they arrive in a country. Apart from the issue of airports, according to Doxey, G. (1976) and his Irridex Irritation Index as the number of tourists increase within a community the populaces state of mind starts to plunge from positive to negative. As the local people tend to generate hatred towards the incoming tourist flow it has become harder for the hotel owner to retain their positions as good and a safe host(Gazija, 2011). The hotel industry has always been associated with comfort and respect, be it leisure or business, demands and expectation from the hotels have been overwhelming. Tourists want to have a good experience, thus a good location for the hotel is extremely essential. For hotels, which have a little to change in terms of their location, tend to improve their surroundings by grooming the landscape and renovating the architecture(Subakti, 2012). The ease of access to major tourist attractions or business hubs tends to become a major characteristic when visitors book their home away from home. If the current location of the hotel is such that the major places are far away it should make arrangements such as pick up and drop facilities at convenient locations on time with no or minimal fee counter as an extra facility to its tourists (Olsen and Zhao, 2004). With respect to Metro Hotel Apartments, it is located at a situation, which is far from the town center and the shopping hub, eateries an d banks are located at an inaccessible range. Apart from the location of the hotel, the tourists expect the inside of a hotel to be as friendly as the home. To express the hotels caring attitude towards its guests, it is expected to provide the guest with the delicacies they enjoy or will tend to enjoy. Hence, the hotels dine-in and restaurant menu needs to be ever evolving, retaining items which the visitors like the most, recirculating what is seasonal and eliminating which is least liked. The hotel staff should be well conversant in English and open to healthy critics if there are any. The Metro Hotel Apartments employees should try to exceed the expectations as it will improve their business in the long-run(Pizam, 2007). The hotel industry is growing rapidly and so is the competition within this sector. The cardinal hotel chains, individual startups as well as e-commerce sites are generating immense competition. The Metro Hotel is required to acquire new strategies to attract the same number of guests (Olsen, 2004). New bloomers are thriving in the waters of healthy competition, which in turn is benefiting the consumers. Hotels, such as, Metro Hotel Apartments should revamp their own restaurant and bar, RockS@lt, and its dcor to suit the need of the new generation of the consumers. Jeganathan G. S. and Srinivasulu Y. (2014) highlights the approach of hotels trying to shuffle through sustainable development of the three strata namely, society, environment and profit making. Keeping all the arguments aside, like every other business, running a hotel is strenuous and at the end of the day the owner expects his or her pecuniary needs satiated. But with this pace of increasing labor wages, rising energy costs, renovating and construction costs, the profits are getting minimized(Phelan, Mejia and Hertzman, 2013). There is continuous development in technology, which is exerting extra pressure on the owner of the Metro Hotel Apartments. The issue at hand is achieving the duly qualified work-force at each level of the organization and that to on decent wages. There is an increase in theproduction cost of resources, such as, electricity and consumables which adversely affect the running cost of the hotel. The technological advancements, such as, electronic door locks, i nternet and environment protection equipment are becoming compulsory for the Metro hotel(Bearne, 2016). The hotel industry has been prevalent ever since human beings started to build societiesand apartments. In accordance with the primary research, both the tangible and intangible attributes and features of hotel business share equal importance(Slattery, 2002). According to Brotherton and Wood (2000), the hospitality industry is centered on the exchange of goods and services within the hospitality centers and venues, and form a connection with private, domestic, and commercial hospitality. Based on this view, the hotel Metro Hotel Apartments should effectively establish its connection with all the domestic and commercial establishments working in the hospitality industry in order to maintain and build strong relationships which will definitely affect its future business within the country. In one of the articles of Ghai A. and Rizwan S.A. (2013), the tough situations and overload of work pressurize the hotels staff and employees and affect their health conditions, so to maintain the p roductivity of the business and retain its efficient employees, the hotel business must acknowledge and introduce some programs for the betterment of its employees(Roy, 2010). In fact to improve the future prospects of the hotel industry, the owner of the respective hotel should concentrate on employee satisfaction to induce greater guest satisfaction as indicated by Bagri S.C., et al. (2012). If the hotel industry continues to go down the same path as the aviation industry, soon it will become the part of the hospitality industry, which is only concerned with generating profits keeping the customer satisfaction as far as possible. For the Metro hotel to flourish, it needs to keep upgrading itself with upcoming technologies and give customers the reasons to come back or generate a reference for friends and families. It is rightly said that a little politeness goes a long way and in the world as it is today it is becoming a dire necessity(Choudhary, 2013).For hotel, such as, Metro Hotel Apartments, they need to distribute their franchise as much as possible, and provide those outlets with staff trained under their supervision, so that they can carry out the duties as expected by the Metro Hotel Apartmentsname. As Naveed M. (2012) pointed out towards developing a customer relationship database and franchise distribution for improving the future prospectsof hotel business(Br otherton, 1999). Conclusion The main aim of this study is to critically review and research the hospitality industry in context with the hotel industry. With the help of several literature and published articles, this study has examined the various issues of the chosen hotel, which are critical and significant to the success of hotel business. Additionally, the future prospects of the business have also been identified, with respect to the todays mode of business. This literature review is going to help the owners of the Metro Hotel Apartments in developing, expanding, and maintaining their contribution to the society as well as their business. This review has also concluded that there are several aspects in the hotel industry which needs to be considered, otherwise the business will not be able to maintain its pace in the market. The company has paid off $8134000 in the current year. the difference which occurs between the income tax expense and income tax actually paid may be due to the difference in payment criteria of the company. the company as per the income tax liability has paid off almost half of the liability. This shows that the company may be following half yearly payment systems which requires income tax payments to be made in two half or installments (Reynolds and Smolensky 2013). For the meantime the amount of income tax expenses which is not paid by the company will be treated as a current tax liability until the tax expenses liability is not cleared. Understanding the tax structure As per the analysis of the financial reports of Sirtex Medical ltd, the company follows corporate tax rate of 30% and has an effective weighted average tax rate of 23.5%. The company has an income tax expense of about $16416000 out of which half of the tax is paid by the company in the current year 2016 and the rest will be paid in a half year time which has been assumed. The Canadian Government Essays - , Term Papers

The Canadian Government Part I. GOVERNMENT AND LAW The Governor General represents the monarch in Canada. He/she is appointed by the monarch on advice of the Canadian Government. Governors General open Parliment and read the speech from the throne which outlines the governments plans. They also give royal assent to bills, appoint important officials, greet foreign leaders, and give out awards and medals. The role of the Governor General is formal and symbolic. The current Govener General is Ray Hnatyshyn. The Last one was Jeanne Sauve. The Senate is, in essence, an independant House of Commons. It appoints its own Speaker and runs its own affairs. The Prime Minister (I'll call him the PM) chooses new members for the senate whenever a vacancy occurs. The Senate acts as a check on the power of the House of Commons by rejecting bills. The Senate may also introduce bills itself, pass them, and send 'em to the House of Commons. Elections for the House of Commons occur every five years, unless the PM wants one sooner. Elected members of the House of Commons (MPs) each represent a Constituency. How many members in the commons depends on how many people in Canada. MPs must be over 18, and not disqualified by law. The House only has to meet once a year, but usually there's so much to do they have to put in many months of work. Any MP can try to introduce a bill, but the Cabinet usually controls the number of bills introduced. Most bills come from the Cabinet, but the ideas can come from things like: A senator, public servant, the media, party platform etc. The PM chooses The Cabinet from fellow party members who have been elected to the House of Commons. When choosing Cabinet members, the PM must choose representatives of all regions and cultural groups of Canada who together, represent and understand all of Canada. A Cabinet member is usually made head of, and responsible for a department of government. For example, the Minister of Finance prepares the federal budget and assumes a big role in managing our economy. The Cabinet members meet together under the leadership the of the PM to discuss the important decisions that the government must make concearning proposed laws or bills. Each Cabinet member is expected to accept decisions made by the Cabinet on the whole. The Cabinet must always appear unified and capable to Parliment and to the country. How A Bill Becomes A Law: -Cabinet Minister has idea for a bill -Idea explained to Cabinet -Cabinet approves idea -Lawyers Draft bill -Cabinet committee examines bill -Cabinet and caucus approve bill -Bill introduced to House of Commons or Senate (first reading) -Second reading -House debates and votes on principle of bill -Parliamentary committee examines bill -House amends bill -Third reading, debate and vote -Bill passes House -Senate (or House of Commons if introduced in Senate) examines, debates, amends bill -Bill passes Senate -Govener general gives royal assent, Bill is now Law. Criminal Law deals with the punishment of people who commit crimes against the public such as murder, arson, and theft. These are considered to be crimes against society. The rules for this are set down in the Criminal Code of Canada. The federal government is responsible for bringing criminal offenders to trial. Civil Law deals with the protection of private rights. It is concearned with disputes between individuals or groups. In civil cases, it is up to the injured party to take the case to court. For an exmaple of a civil case, let's say that a friend of yours pulls out a gun and shoots a hole through your wall, but doesn't want to pay for it. It would be up to you to sue your friend for the cost of the wall in a civil court. Social networks are free, easy and convenient for people of all lifestyles to open and own an account as long as internet is available. Face Book and Twitter are innovations of the 21st century, which have heavily affected the system of governance. In Egypt, through the social networks, people started staging mass demonstrations in protest against Hosni Mub arak regime pressurizing him to resign in what could be termed as Internet/Twitter Revolution. Overwhelmed by the uprisings, the Egyptian Government resulted in banning Twitter and other social networks, though not directly the government was using Chomsky’s propaganda model to justify themselves. The government argued that the social networks were only interested in tapping the large Egyptian population as a resource and not in providing the crucial information. The government further refuted its image as portrayed on Twitter arguing that the information was biased and not objective. The information, to the regime, was structured in a way it put the masses against their own government (Herman Chomsky 2). To them Twitter being a foreign owned corporation was only interested in advertising itself, and had no interest in the affairs of the Egyptian people. It was also argued that exiled personalities and anti government movements were using the site to fund the protesters crea ting chaos and anarchy. Technological advancement especially in the media industry has been the major factor in influencing and speeding the process of globalization. Globalization and the digital media have facilitated more knowledge sharing and collaborations. The social networks are entertaining and at times addictive. This guarantees these sites millions and millions of followers and in the process of socializing information is shared and dispersed. Mousavi the opposition leader who disputed the elections kept in touch with the masses via the social networks. Protesters to post videos of the cruelty inflicted by the government forces used You Tube, Twitter and Face Book. This was met by international condemnation of the atrocities, some countries even threatening to impose economic sanctions. Although the Iran Government did not give in, the rest of the world had been sensitized (Raatma 54). In Egypt, the then government had ruled for over thirty years. Egypt has remained a third world country, with high levels of unemployment yet it was among the first countries of the world to experience civilization. The government was accused of being dictatorial, corrupt, and infringement of press freedom. Most of the over eighty million population remains unemp loyed and the few employed have poor working conditions and poor salaries. The Egyptian problems are common problems facing the Middle East region of the Arab world. Most of the Middle East Arab countries have a similar pattern of government; either dictatorial or monarchical, democracy is never exercised. The political leaders have been in power for decades, dictatorial and oppressive. Economic developments are minimal and the masses languish in poverty. However, the leaders of these regions are the richest among the political class of the world raising an alarm among the people. Some are known to lead flamboyant lifestyles owning property in other parts of the world like Europe and America. There are also monarchical systems in this region. Monarchical systems of the region allow no democratic elections. Leaders in power are not competent since they are in power not because of their capability but because of their family lineage. Comparing their form of government with the West de mocrats like the US, the people of the region have sought to change the status quo. The Egyptian Revolution was inspired by the Tunisian Revolution, which had just ousted the then incumbent president, Ben Ali. The participants of the revolutions were ordinary people and not militias or guerrilla fighters, and thus were unarmed.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Twitter/Face Book revolution in Egypt specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The effectiveness of the uprising primarily relied on the number of people protesting, thus a medium to communicate with the people, urging them to turn up in large numbers was very necessary. Twitter and Face Book thus become the perfect platform for mass interaction (Bergstorm 1). The Egyptian media corporations are mainly state owned or government friendly and thus could not show or portray any anti government sentiment. The influence of the government on media created suspicion from the people and hence these local media could not be trusted. People turned to internationally credible media corporations like CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera. The social networks also become very famous. Where television network had been cut, people could follow, CNN, Al Jazeera, BBC, and other television cables on Twitter. Twitter allows users to view the tweets and messages if they have an account. To follow the proceedings, people registered on Twitter in large numbers and further uniting the masses, this led to the government’s use of propaganda model to claim Twitter was using the chaos to reap hefty profits and thus was manufacturing and structuring news to suit what they felt would attract more viewers and followers instead of remaining objective. Leaders like the exiled El- Baradi a Nobel Prize winner was able to directly link with the people. The rise of use of Twitter, Face Book and online news channels led the Government of Egypt to block internet access especially Twitte r. This brought about international condemnations as it was against the rights of people to acquisition of information, against press freedom and freedom of association. The government did not own up rather blamed the internet failures on the demonstrators. The masses were already educated and sensitized enough, so demonstrations could not be deterred or stopped. International community was very vocal in condemning this act and the internet-oriented companies like Google tried to help in solving the situation by sending direct IP port for use by the people on their handsets. This Egyptian Revolution could also be analyzed from the smart mob perspective propagated by Rheingold. The notion hold that there is emergence of popular revolts by the masses once there is technological advancement. The masses in context (smart mob) are not related nor acquainted with one another (Rheingold 76).Advertising Looking for essay on communications media? Let's see if we can help you! The smart mobs use the technologically manufactured gadgets to relate with one another. They act intelligently and efficiently. As technology advances the cost of microprocessors, that link people, decrease. The technological advances highlighted by Rheingold include blogs, wireless gadgets like mobile phones, chats and computing technology. In Egypt and many other third world countries, wireless gadgets like mobile phones have become the most used tools for accessing the internet to the ordinary person. Prior to the 21st Century, mobile phones were not common in Africa. However, the past decades has witnessed radical changes in telecommunication industries around the world. Telecommunication industries have become the highest revenue generators all over Africa with the richest persons in African according to Forbes falling in the line of telecommunication industry. Of the Egyptians listed in the 2010 Forbes list of richest Africans the leading were in the telecommunication sector. Internet access through the phones and the development of smart phones is a new phenomenon in Africa and many other third world countries. Phone manufacturing companies like Nokia have spent much of their resources advertising their brand in the new markets of third world countries which in turn has seen massive buying of phones. During the revolution in Egypt, many people were using phones in the access of Twitter and Face Book. This enabled people to organize the venues and time of the demonstrations enabling them to counter the imposed curfews by the government. Most of these phones have a camera device, which enabled people to capture the events on the ground uploading the pictures on Face Book and Twitter for all to see. To counter this, the government blocked the internet (Inoljt 1). Through uploading pictures and videos of the events on the ground, there was no way the government could have been able to prevent the world from assessing the situation. This led to many nations sending airplanes for their people who could have been trapped in Egypt, which in turn led to Egypt losing millions of dollars in the tourism industry and other sectors. Leaders of the revolution were also able to communicate with other world leaders through webcam. Debates and negotiations could be initiated and held via the net something that has never been witnessed. The government was overwhelmed by the mass demonstration and all efforts to thwart the revolts became futile. Military deployment led to more condemnation. The US president, Obama, together with other world leaders pressurized the Egyptian administration to heed to the will of the people and institute reforms or just resign (Johnson 1). Without the international support, the president had no option but to resign. The successive Egyptian Revolution has inspired many more revolts in the world. The Arab nations of Middle East and North Africa ar e plugged into chaos. From Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Yemen to Libya. Yemen has totally blocked Twitter site in an attempt to thwart the uprising. However, IP port and addresses from Twitter in collaboration with Google are being circulated in the television networks especially Al Jazeera in an attempt by the rest of the world to assist the oppressed mob agitating for their rights. Gadhafi, the Libyan dictator who has ruled for over forty-two years, has remained adamant. Libyan forces have been using excessive force in suppressing the demonstrators. Though Twitter and Face Book are partially blocked, pictures posted on those two sites show horrible scenes of human rights violation (Hudson 2). The international community led by the US has threatened military intervention on Libya (Baumont 1). There has been established a no-fly zone to deter Libyan fighter jets from further killing innocent civilians. No matter the efforts by these dictatorial regimes, the masses have the unifying bond in the internet, which they have enjoyed for a couple of years. The dictatorial regimes have a tendency of filtering the contents broadcast by local media. The powerful regimes control production, distribution and influence in the consumption of the information. The Middle East countries have remained relatively behind in the information dispensation sector and freedom of press (Hounshell 1). Globalization has changed the status quo by enabling connectivity and intermingling of people in different countries. Those countries that block the worldwide links and networks are heavily condemned. However, China one of the leading economies of the world, has continued with internet restriction and site like that of Google has been completely blocked. The internet is a valuable source of information in the modern world. The installation of fiber optic cables in third world countries has enabled global collaboration and sharing. You Tube has provided an alternative for storing chunks of informa tion. Marketing through You Tube has become easier and convenient. You Tube videos enable persons to assess a situation and make their investment choices wisely. Social networks have also become resourceful sites for job seekers and potential employers to interact. Global media has enabled users to access information first hand. A Person in Africa can follow the events of the latest Tsunami to hit Japan while another person in America can follow the events in Libya. Satellite television has enabled sports lovers to follow their respective sports and the icons of the games have become household names. Satellites are being used for many other reasons like scientific enquiry and media coverage (Castells 45). It is thus unethical and absurd to the rest of the world when dictatorial regimes opposed to the changing times are still opposed to the freedom of the media. However, the internet-engineered revolutions have had a major impact on global peace and economy. In Egypt, there were rowd y mobs whose aim was looting. Egypt has one of the richest cultural heritage and artifacts. Historical artifacts were targeted by the looters, of which some are thousands and thousands of years old. Economy of Egypt has been greatly destabilized and the country might never recover. It is not guaranteed that the next government will be better than the Mubarak regime (Gross 1). Instead of violent revolution, it would be better if people used the social networks and the general media to tackle their problems together. It would be better to engage in diplomatic negotiation and other non-violent forms like the way business is being successively conducted on the internet. However, oppressive governments must be removed from power to ensure human rights are not violated and development initiatives are encouraged and supported. How to become an OTR driver

How to become an OTR driver When you think of the phrase â€Å"truck driver,† you’re probably envisioning an over-the-road (OTR) truck driver: someone who drives a big rig long distances to deliver a load of freight. As opposed to delivery drivers, who typically have set local routes, OTR truckers can transport goods across the county, state, or even country. There’s something very appealing and old-school about the idea of hitting the open road- is it the right option for you? What does an OTR trucker do?OTR trucking (also known as long-haul trucking) is a type of driving that involves using large tractor-trailer trucks to haul freight of all kinds (including heavy loads of goods, machinery, or other equipment) long distances. Routes are typically across state lines, and may include parts of the United States and Canada- basically anywhere accessible by main roads and highways. This is definitely not your typical 9-to-5 job. These drivers work on demanding schedules and can be away from hom e for weeks at a time. These schedules may require driving nights, weekends, or holidays to meet unforgiving deadlines. It can also be a very solitary job, with drivers often traveling alone on long trips. What skills does an OTR trucker have?OTR truckers are masters of logistics and need to have a number of skills ready to go, on the road or not.Driving Skills:  This may seem like a no-brainer, but OTR drivers require some next-level driving skills. Drivers should drive with an eye on safety and their freight at all times. And in addition to a commercial driver’s license (CDL), a clean driving record is essential for scoring a job in OTR trucking.Mechanical Skills:  Out on the road, you may need to be your own mechanic, if something happens out of AAA range or a place where the nearest mechanic is miles away. OTR drivers should have a solid base set of mechanical skills to be able to troubleshoot minor mechanical difficulties along the way.Time Management Skills:  Nothi ng drives (pun mostly intended) a trucker’s world more than the delivery schedule. Truckers need to be able to manage their time independently and efficiently to make sure they’re delivering their freight on schedule.Self-Starter Skills:  Out on the road, you won’t have a boss looking over your shoulder to make sure you’re doing everything that needs doing or staying on task and on time. Truckers should be able to independently determine what needs to be done and develop a game plan for delivering the load on schedule and without major issues. What do you need to become an OTR trucker? The most essential step in becoming an OTR driver is getting your CDL certification. The licensing process may vary by state, but will involve a combination of a written test and a practical driving test. As with any driving test, you can go it alone and try to cram on your own, but there are many commercial driving schools that offer programs that train you, walk you throu gh testing, and prepare you for what life will be like as an OTR driver. The CDL focuses on the skills and mechanical know-how necessary to operate large tractor trailers. You can also get optional certification in specialties like transporting hazardous materials. How much do OTR drivers get paid?According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual salary for delivery drivers is $41,430, or $19.87 per hour. This can vary pretty widely, depending on factors like the driver’s experience level, the type of freight being transported, and the distance. Some drivers are paid a flat rate for an entire trip, while others are paid by the mile. What’s the outlook for OTR drivers? This is a very steady field and will continue to be so. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates that the OTR driving field will grow by about 5% by 2024.

Great whites essays

Great whites essays Sharks have a bad reputation as blood thirsty killers, but only a few are dangerous. Attacks on people are very rare. For example in the last thirty-two years there were only forty-two great white shark attacks and only four were fatal. That is one death in eight years. Road accident kill thousands, but they dont exterminate the car. People are more likely to die in a car accident or drown in the ocean . Surfers are more at risk. Attacks on surfers happen near seal or sea lion breeding colonies. When surfers dangle their arms and legs over the edge of their surfboards, the sharks think that they look like seals because of their similar shapes from below . Mesh nets are used to protect beaches. Trapped sharks suffocate. When a shark cant swim it cant keep water flowing through its gills. Over 1,400 sharks are caught each year. Many of these sharks are harmless. The nets also catch and kill dolphins, sea lions, birds, turtles and rays. After three weeks they need to be replaced. With seaweed and other marine growth, they are easily seen and avoided by sharks. They also use interlocking chain nets, but they are so expensive that they are only used to protect small areas. Chemical repellents have also been tried but dont work well because they get washed away .Test are being done to see if electrical barriers can be used . Sharks are very sensitive to electric current. The seals in the breeding colonies usually stick together. When they do that the sharks usually leave them alone. There are thousands of baby seals born each year and hundreds die of starvation and diseases. The mothers go out to find food and leave the babies by themselves for days at a time. Sometimes the babies get swept into the sea or wander away from the seal raft (which is when all the seals swim together). It is then that the baby seals get attacked. It is survival of the fittest a...
